An invitation to a mysterious theatrical performance changes the lives of two women in Adam Rapp’s riveting new audio play The Cube. Magda, an upper-class White woman, is shocked to the core by what she sees—and questions her complicity. Ruth, a Black woman who played a role in the show, is thrilled to be part of it—until she discovers her performance is all too convincing. Directed by Whitney White, a visceral and truly immersive audio experience that tackles issues of race, privilege, and cultural blindness.

Very cool dark tale, narration was good.
As the story is so bizarre there wasn’t much guessing ahead, just had to listen to find out where it was going.

Gripping and twisted

This production is replete with twists and brilliantly crafted transformations that grapple with the ideologies of how the arts and upheaval can be strange bedfellows.

The graphic nature of this production brings the grittiness of a city like New York in the grip of a pandemic with the cheek and jowl of people living in echo chambers.

I felt drawn and repulsed in equal measure. All I can say is that this is a suspenseful drama.

A Suspenseful Drama

I've read a few reviews and honestly think the negative ones come from a surface level, which is not to say are not valid nor to diminish the listeners experience.
For me this performance will play to people's perceptions, feelings and views on certain subjects which may well be uncomfortable. for that reason I think though it plays with the intellect it's more about the experience and feelings evoked.

could I listen to 10hrs of this, probably not. Perfect length for this performance and it was enjoyable.

This was... too crass, too on the nose, too directionless, too flat... Too much and at the same time too little.
If you are looking for some artsy piece on racism in the Covid-19 and BLM context, this is not it.
