James Fenici is the Company's most dangerous assassin—and its least controllable.

Captured, brutalized, and rebuilt into something barely human, he runs on instinct and violence. But he remembers a girl from a long time ago. A girl who was promised to him before he chose the knife instead.

Harper Tate grew up invisible—no birth certificate, no name in any system, trained in secret by her assassin brother on a superyacht that never docked. Now she's on the run with something the Company will kill to get back.

Sasha Cherlin is thirteen years old. She just lost her father. She's smarter, deadlier, and more broken than anyone knows. And James Fenici is the closest thing to safety she has left.

That should terrify everyone—including her.

The Company would do anything to keep these three apart. But the most dangerous thing in their world isn't a weapon or a secret.

It's a family that has nothing left to lose.

Tropes include: dark & spicy romance; morally gray; found family; forced proximity; who did this to you; he falls first; heroine on the run; secret society; trauma bonding; touch her and die vibes.

Oh my, I did not want this story to end. I read The Company when it was three separate books, but I'm slowly working my way through the audible versions now. These characters! Such a good story, and as the Company, it's a long audiobook, full of twists. Harper, James and Sasha - brilliant characters with a side order of Nick Tate and Merc, and a dash of Ford, and his friends in Fort Collins (you can most certainly enjoy The Company without reading the Rook and Ronin books, but I'd recommend that first).
Beautifully narrated, it's easy to get immersed in this story, that takes you from the beach, and a seemingly lost Harper, and slightly stalkerish James, though to the grand conclusion in Santa Barbara. Wow! What a journey!

Loved!

This brilliant, twisty, intense story is brought to robust life by the two very talented narrators. I have loved every single minute and, even though I have also read the book, I heard details I had missed while devouring the book at a rate of knots! Worth every minute of my time x

Just brilliant!

The Company (Rook & Ronin #6) by J A Huss is a story of intrigue, murder, love, and lies. James Fenici is a Company assassin, Harper Tate fled from the Company, and Sasha Cherlin is an orphaned teenager who knows more than most when it comes to Company business. Together they are on a dangerous journey and not knowing who to trust is the hardest part in this deadly game.
I love the bickering between James and Sasha, (killers bickering is seriously funny). It's a brilliant, compelling, and exciting must read! I loved the narrators too!

A fantastic read!
