Award-winning author Craig Johnson's critically acclaimed debut Western mystery takes listeners to the breathtaking mountains of Wyoming for a tale of cold-blooded vengeance. Two years earlier, four high school boys were given suspended sentences for raping a Cheyenne girl. Now, two of the boys have been killed, and only Sheriff Walt Longmire can keep the other two safe.

"Johnson, who lives in Ucross, Wyoming, knows the Western landscape well, and creates stunning and violent scenes of the Rocky Mountains." (Bookmarks)

I am a huge fan of Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire series. I have read most of the books and I really love them! They are a mixture of mystery and police procedural drama, with great characters one would love to meet in real life. They have many laugh-out-loud moments, and are imbued with great humanity.

That said, listening to the books narrated by the great George Guidall, is an even better experience. George Guidall is truly fantastic in this series!

The first of a great series!

Loved George’s rich voice and clever dramatisation, thought the story excellent until the last when there was suddenly too much violent physical action for comfort, or indeed to sit well with the sedentary character we’d come to love.

An excellent dramatisation makes a good story even better.

A great book. Fantastic language and story. Absorbing characters and a great plot with twists and turns. Thoroughly enjoyed it and going to listen to the rest of the series.

Fantastic!

This author has created a murder mystery that is so multi layered saying Bravo just doesn't do it justice. For me it spoke to me and confirmed that although we all look different we are all on the same path to Valhalla. All with a different life map/route but seeking the same answer .... does anyone really see and hear me? I found the book shortly after my wife died and it helped me be reminded as Henry says at the end '.... 'it's because there's more geese on one side'. Thank you Craig Jackson and Audible as I think I'll get 'off the porch now' and continue my personal life journey. ❤️

ĹIfe Lessons? ..... 'It is so'

I must say this is one of the best books I’ve come across in a long time. It is very slow & non-linear when it comes to describing the feelings and observations of Walt, and Henry and all the other characters. But you get fully immersed in how they think what’s going on in them and the author hits it right on the bottom. I can highly recommend this to anybody who likes Fargo or the Charlie Parker series

Absolutely a new classic
