Ellen Curtis runs her own business helping people who are running out of space. As a declutterer, she is used to encountering all sorts of weird and wonderful objects in the course of her work. What she has never before encountered is a dead body.

When Ellen stumbles across the body of a young woman in an over-cluttered flat, suspicion immediately falls on the deceased homeowner's son. No doubt Nate Ogden is guilty of many things - but is he really the killer?

Discovering a link between the victim and her own past, Ellen sets out to uncover the truth. But where has her best friend disappeared to? And is Ellen really prepared for the shocking revelations to follow?

Nice to start a new series and I usually love the stuff written by Simon Brett, but I feel this one slightly missed the mark…
I would definitely agree with other reviews about the narration, I think it should be a female narrator, in the first chapter, I even mistook the main characters name for ‘Alan’ rather than ‘Ellen’ because of this!
Also, Ellen is painfully dull, and the story is kept going by the much more colourful cast of supporting characters, which is a shame. Perhaps a different narrator could have breathed in a bit more personality in the reading of her character??
I would probably listen to more of the series if they were on sale, but definitely not at full price.

Good start to a series

A great mystery with a good dollop of mental health issues. I liked (most of) the characters in "the clutter corpse" and I have also enjoyed plenty of Simon Brett's other mysteries.

Unfortunately a bit too much sniffing and deep breaths which were a little distracting at times in the performance.

A great mystery

Love this new book from Simon Brett. He has introduced us to a great new character and I so hope this will be the start of a new series. Listened to all the Fethering series and hope there will be new books there too.
Narration as always was brilliant - I am hoping for more.

Excellent as always
