50th Anniversary audiobook version of the official history of BBC Radio 4's classic comedy series 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue' -- one of the UK's most popular and long running radio shows which has featured the best British writers and comedians of the past half century including members of Monty Python, The Goodies, Stephen Fry and countless others.

"Jem manages to write about popular cultural institutions with knowledge and affection, while avoiding the dismal traps of nerdy fanboyism on the one hand or grandiose cultural pseudo-intellectualism on the other. His research is flawless and the results are readable, illuminating and delightful" Stephen Fry

Back in 1972, people had never heard of Samantha, Sven, nor Mrs. Trellis, and had no idea of the rules of Mornington Crescent, nor what points are for. The year 2022 marks 50 years of radio insanity – of the nation's finest comic minds being given silly things to do, with some of them set to music. Celebrate the Golden Anniversary of the greatest radio comedy of all time, THE antidote to panel games, with the epic and exhaustive, fully authorised history of both I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again – THE groovy youth comedy explosion of the '60s – and its beloved spin-off, I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue.

Originally published in 2009 in full collaboration with Graeme Garden, Humph and the Teams, plus Jon Naismith, Sir David Hatch, John Lloyd, Simon Brett, Stephen Fry, Colin Sell and so many of the greatest comedians of the last half century or more, this audio Bible features an all-new update on everything Jack Dee and the Teams have been up to in the last fourteen years.

Presented in special tribute to David Hatch, Geoffrey Perkins, Humphrey Lyttelton, Jeremy Hardy, Iain Pattinson, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Jo Kendall, and Barry Cryer.

“As Bibles go, I reckon THE CLUE BIBLE is among the top two.” Graeme Garden

It's a fantastic book from start to finish. The history and background to one of radio's greatest shows. If you are a fan of this fine institution, or just a fan of great comedy history in general, then this is for you. Absolutely brilliant.

The reader/listen is in safe and funny hands with Jem Roberts through this account of the forerunners of ISIHAC, the show's own history and what its key players went on to do alongside it. There is plenty of information for even the veteran listener of the show to digest, including how and why the rounds have evolved, along with the origins of the show in a desire to save time by creating a show without a script.

At times, the thoroughness of the history slows down the account, as if there's a premium on mentioning everyone involved at any point. That though makes it stronger as a reference work, and the audio version if kept fun all the way through with the care taken to do more than just a simple reading. Sound effects feature frequently.

Great book, made even better by the audio version

Lots of interesting/useless historical information about a long-running strand of British comedy, occasionally spoiled by the author/narrator's mispronunciations of several words - mostly names.
