Praise for The Summoner series:

The pace is so fast and so thrilling that even less than regular readers will be hooked
Fantasy lovers will love the demonic detail
Influenced by Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and video games, it appeals to fans of all of these

If you liked the summoner series and are thinking the chosen will fill the void then you will be disappointed. No it’s not a bad book but considering how well Taran has proved he can write a gripping novel in the past this just doesn’t meet expectations. I won’t be buying book 2, summoner 4 however has my vote.

Disappointing compared to the summoner series

Story was ok, narration was very good but struggled with the painful American character accents

A reasonably engaging story

Been a fan since the summoner trilogy so the fantasy vibe being replaced/mixed with some sci-fi elements threw me off a little bit, but it turned out to be one of the most thought provoking and downright terrifying to think about endings to a first book leving you wanting for more.

Terrifyingly Brilliant
