DAVID RAKER IS BACK WITH ANOTHER HEART-POUNDING MISSING PERSONS CASE

CCTV footage captures Cate and Aiden Gascoigne driving home seconds before their car plunges into a ravine and explodes.

When fire crews arrive, the vehicle is empty.

Cate and Aiden have vanished.

Missing persons investigator David Raker has solved too many impossible cases. He knows that behind every disappearance lies a dark tale waiting to be uncovered.

What he doesn't know is how dark this one is - or how close it will get to him . . .

I much enjoyed Tim Weaver 's latest, The Blackbird. It's a fine addition to an excellent series
With the David Raker novels, Tim Weaver has carved out an area of British crime fiction uniquely his own. Unsettling, brilliantly plotted, and satisfyingly complex, these books are unputdownable, and the latest - The Blackbird - is no exception. If you haven't yet met Raker, you're in for a treat (Mick Herron)
I always look forward to a new Raker but The Blackbird blew me away. Brilliantly plotted, deliciously dark and so clever and unpredictable I was left reeling as I turned the last page. I'm already eagerly awaiting Tim Weaver's next. A writer at the top of his game (Claire Douglas)
A brilliant missing persons mystery with plenty of intrigue and a jaw-dropping number of twists and turns. Truly excellent (B A Paris)
Incredibly well-paced, with menacing, clever twists - Raker is back in this stunning read from one of the masters of the genre. Tim Weaver goes from strength to strength and this is his best book yet (Phoebe Morgan)
The impressive Weaver triumphs again with this intricate mystery
Shocking, gripping, heart-pounding, The Blackbird is unputdownable . . . Bloody brilliant (Nikki May)
Taut and immersive, with all the hallmarks of a true crime novel (Catherine Steadman)
This is the 11th novel by Weaver to feature his widowed sleuth, and the author's casual expertise is firmly in evidence
A killer concept, and a twisty, addictive tale. Fabulous! (Gytha Lodge)

David Raker are is really now just like an old friend: the reader is especially good at transmitting a sympathetic character he sounds young though with a middle-aged daughter I’m not sure- but anyway if he said he’s charismatic and handsome so I can imagine that .
The story as usual is complicated with many twists and turns big surprises throughout; at the end there is a cliffhanger of sorts - can’t wait for the next instalment. Thanks Tim!

Another smasher in the Raker series

Best one yet. The relationship between Raker and Healy is such a powerful part of this series of books, even more so in this book.

Great book, maybe the best yet. It ended badly for Raker though. He’s going to have difficult time recovering from this.

The addition of Anjili Mohindra for the female parts added so much more to the book. Joe Coen and Brendan McDonald were outstanding as usual Laing the parts of Raker and Healy.

Enjoyed this one as much as all the others, can't wait for the next.
Thanks very much mr weaver😊

Always worth the wait!

…but nevertheless the usual high-pace thrills and twists. Mostly good narration too. Not quite as good as earlier series books.

More cold case than missing…
