Lady Augusta Penworthy is in dire straights.

Her father has spent every last coin, and she and her sisters cannot even afford coal. One chance encounter and a torn gown changes everything. While one might think a sudden marriage to a wealthy lord a relief if that marriage is to the Duke of Blacktower, one would be vastly mistaken. For no young lady wishes to be that infamous rake's bride.

The Duke of Blacktower has a secret. He has vowed never to marry and has ensured his fearsome reputation would dissuade any hopeful lady or their scheming mama. Now, his hand has been forced, and his fury is unleashed. But Lady Augusta is not the manipulative young lady he believed, and suddenly he finds himself tempted by his own bride.

From USA Today bestselling author Eva Devon, writing as Máire Claremont, comes a brand-new series that will sweep you away to the drama and angst of Regency England. Glittering ballrooms, wild moors, and brooding lords await...

The story is good, as you would expect, but the narrators don't mesh. The male reads faster than the female narrator, so listening feels very choppy.

I loved this story from start to finish, it’s exciting and I couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters and look forward to reading more in this series

Great story

There were 2 narrators 1 female and 1 male. I found the lady easy to listen to she usually did longer chapters then the man and the lady some times read 2 chapter when the man did 1. I did find him a little hard to listen to him at the start, either he got better by the end of I got use to him.
The story was fine to listen to and had a bit more excitement near the end of the book but I have preferred a lot of other books over this one.

Book was okay narrator took a while to get use to

Would have liked her to have had a successful pregnancy in the prologue, but I still enjoyed it and would listen to it again.
