How far would you go to save the life of a family member...especially when you're the reason their life hangs in the balance?

Archie Legge is a successful hypnotherapist…and a recovering drug addict.

Stuck in a mundane cycle of sessions for weight loss and smoking cessation, he becomes intrigued by the question: what happens to a person's soul when they temporarily lose consciousness?

His investigations bring startling results, and suddenly Archie is addicted to something else–discovering the truth behind these ethereal adventures.

Desperate for people to take part in his new project, he hypnotises his epileptic son with disastrous consequences. Now he must make a choice: risk his own life by revisiting a dangerous habit to save his son, or live with the guilt and hope no one discovers his secret.

Fans of Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library and Mitch Albom’s Five People You Meet in Heaven will love this gripping tale of a man torn between his past and his family's future.

Please note this novel contains scenes of sexual abuse and drug use.

I had no idea what to expect as it was about a subject that I had no knowledge or experience. But once I started I couldn’t put it down. It made me think about life and the the possibility of the after life. I thoroughly recommend it.

This was my first time listening to an audiobook. As a visual learner I was worried that my mind would wander and I would struggle to keep up with the story. I needn't have worried. The narrator was excellent, with different voices for each character and changing speed and intonation depending on the action. The story is very well written, and the plot is continually moving forward. I stayed focused because I didn't want to miss anything. If you are interested in the paranormal, reincarnation and hypnotherapy, then you will enjoy this book. It is also a story of family trauma and addiction, so could be triggering for some.

A story that makes you think about life's priorities

Really enjoyed the story and the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing all the characters to life! Hopefully this turns into a series as there is a huge amount more to explore with the concept the author has created.

Highly recommend a listen

I purchased this for a long car journey and I like a good book to keep me company. I wasn’t disappointed! There were so many plot twists and places that the story went that I really didn’t anticipate. A unique tale as far as my experience goes and a genuinely great plot. Nicely read by the narrator as well. A nice chocolaty, treacly voice to accompany me on my journey.

An outstanding bit of storytelling
