In this debut pamphlet, the author draws on her experiences as a young teen emigrating from London to Georgetown, Guyana in 1976 for her mother’s remarriage. The poetry moves between intimate memory and wider social histories, examining sexuality, motherhood, loss and displacement. Attentive to the intersections of the personal and political, these thirteen poems trace the transformative journey of the female body while questioning ideas of home, identity, and inheritance.©2026 Tracey McEvoy (P)2026 Tracey McEvoy Poetry

A beautiful half-hour audio journey back in time from 1970s London to Guyana, seen through the intense perspective of an uprooted teenager.

Through the ebb and flow of Tracey McEvoy’s soothing voice, we are drawn into a narrative that beautifully captures the bewilderment, dislocation and 'untetheredness' of a young person finding their way between places and identities.

I’ve always thought poetry spoken by its creator is a delicious treat — and a huge advantage when it comes to understanding the poet’s intent and emotional landscape.

Mesmerising.
