"Think of it as a game, Jack. Play the game right and you might outlast the Nazis."

Caught up in Hitler's Final Solution to annihilate Europe's Jews, 15-year-old Jack Mandelbaum is torn from his family and thrown into the nightmarish world of the concentration camps. Here, simple existence is a constant struggle, and Jack must learn to live hour to hour, day to day. Despite intolerable conditions, he resolves not to hate his captors and vows to see his family again. But even with his strong will to survive, how long can Jack continue to play this life-and-death game?

Well narrated and re told! So sad to know this is a true story for so many! For a short story a lot was said. , and it's a story I shall not forget. I could not stop listening. Jack was a remarkable young man who endured far too much, but refused to let hatred use up his energy which helped his fight for survival.

A true story you will not forget in a hurry!

This is a truly mesmerising account of one young boy's journey and the fact that the narrator sounds as if he's in his late teens, makes it all the better.

Truly outstanding!

Whilst this is in places horrific it still doesn’t get across the unbelievable cruelty of the nazis or the suffering of the Jewish people and others; no single book can.

Everyone should know about what happened
