Lord Peter Wimsey encounters his greatest challenge yet. Not in solving a crime, but in matters of the heart.

Mystery writer Harriet Vane stands trial for poisoning her unfaithful lover, accused of slipping arsenic into his morning coffee.

Convinced of her innocence from the moment their eyes meet across the courtroom, Wimsey embarks on a desperate race against time to uncover the truth.

The Crown's case is watertight. The police are adamant that the right person is on trial. It seems certain that Harriet Vane shall hang.

Can Lord Peter Wimsey prove that she is not guilty of murder - or find the real poisoner in time to save her from the gallows?

Dorothy at her best as always. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the narrator. Next listen coming up. Lewis

with historical relevance. please could Robert Bathurst record the next Lord Peter Wimsey books? You need narrators who are easy to listen to, aren't monotonous and don't keep going quiet and then loud so you have to adjust the volume. This narrator fits the bill for Lord Peter Wimsey books. Full novels please, not radio dramatisations.

An excellent performance by the narrator, made a well known story really worth listening to. I had read the story before.

Second one of the Wimsey series I have listened to. Extremely good narration by Robert Bathurst who brought Lord Wimsey to life. Only very slightly let-down by the narration of a very minor figure (Parker) who was a bit wooden. Very good plot overall. I believe there is a third audio book in the series which I will listen to next.

Robert Bathurst’s wonderful reading of the Lord Peter Wimsey novels have made me very happy. I have come to Dorothy L Sayer late in life but thank goodness I have found her now. This book has been the best so far and I feel rather sad it’s all over. The different voices used by Bathurst for the characters have been excellent and just brought it to life. I can’t recommend more highly.
