Splendora, a steamy little East Texas town, is the setting for this rollicking tale of Timothy John Coldridge and Miss Jessie Gatewood, two people who couldn't be any closer. But Timothy John and Miss Jessie are hiding a secret - one that, if discovered, will rock Splendora to its very core.

Published in 1978, Edward Swift's acclaimed literary debut Splendora introduces a quirky, winning protagonist: a Texas transvestite born Timothy John Coldridge, living as Miss Jessie Gatewood, freshly returned to New Orleans to work as a librarian. Sassy and beguiling, Miss Jessie isn't just an artistic dresser; she's a way for Timothy to get revenge on the people he grew up with in the French Quarter. A voice performance from accomplished playwright and stage actor Topher Payne makes this an engaging experience for listeners - Payne portrays Timothy and Miss Jessie with warmth, humor, and moxie.
