The second book in the nationally bestselling Avalon University dark academia series, following Summer Tuatha De Daanan as she recovers from the devastating year before, but as her magical, combat, and mental training pushes her to confront the darkness in her soul, that same darkness pulls her towards the shadows of her mysterious stalker.

Fear. Fury. And Fire.

To Know is Never Enough.

Summer Tuatha De Daanan reluctantly returns to Avalon University for her second year after spending the summer with her vampire best friend in Draculea. She’s a shell of her former self, and the peace promised to her has never felt further from her reach. All Summer wants is to keep her head down and get through the year cloaked in her depression, but looming threats linger, and she quickly finds herself thrust into a dangerous position once again; entangled with a friend turned enemy, the protector of her beloved family, and the target of two very powerful kings.

Unwilling to suffer any further loss, Summer must push through her emotions to prepare herself for the enemies who threaten everything she holds dear. Through runic training with the revered and brooding Headmaster Emrys, combat with the aloof and strong-willed Max, and improving her mental walls with the dark and mysterious stranger, each step pulls her further from the edge of despair. Yet, nothing will be simple for Summer, and the more she trains, the more she discovers who she truly is, forcing her to confront her inner darkness. The beast within that purrs for her enigmatic stalker.

A darkness that is waiting to be explored. A darkness that will not be denied.

Firstly.. this book is VERY wrongly labelled as a duet.. its absolutely not a duet when the female narrator is doing all the male voice for messages & dreams! & there are a lot of them! Completely put me off especially when she was doing them during spicy scenes! It wasnt like this on book 1 so why change it for book 2???!!
I loved hearing from Rafe’s POV! But Miras accent was all over the place & a bit annoying!
I enjoyed the book but it really dragged on! I guessed who the stranger was in book 1 & i was right, to stretch this out for 2 whole books was too long for me!
Summer as an FMC is great & I loved the strangers possessiveness of her!!
Will i listen to book 3.. yes but only if they do a complete duet like book 1!!

I lived everything about this 2nd book. the trauma, the emotion, all of the details of their day to day lives, I could read/listen to it forever like my own little soap opera.

Book 2 did NOT disappoint, and although I'm frustrated about wanting to know who the stranger is (as nothing is confirmed), I am.so looking forward to book 3 (although we have a year to wait for that).

I think I cried through the first 10/12% of thw book, feeling the emotions not only Summer, but Alice and all of the morningstars grief. When Summer saw Farrah 😭

I loved how much Rafe was in this book. He was one of my favourite, albeit mysterious side characters from book 1. I'm so happy he found Mira and can't wait to find out how their journey progresses.

The stranger..... well, what can I say. I'd urge anyone to read with the audio, Corvin King did a fantastic job and I could listen to him say 'Mine' until I drifted off to sleep at night.

Without giving away too many spoilers, I love where Summer has ended up at the end of this book. I'm looking forward to how her time there will shape the person she is growing to be.

Overall, I'd give this 5⭐️ and I'll be watching closely for the news of book 3's release 😁

I'm screaming....!!!

This book had everything from me, tears, heartbreak and anticipation. The audio had some editing issues with the duel narration but it didnt take away being engrossed in the story. I loved seeing Rafes journey develope and the bonds he has with his "sisters". I cant believe we have to wait an entire year for the finale but its already in my calender. This has turned out to be one of my favourite series and as I only buy hardbacks of those particular favs, they have already taken space on my shelf..... can't wait to complete it!! My Corvin King collection is clear to see.....his growls are life!!! 🔥

READ THIS OVER 3 DAYS! OBSESSED!

what happened to this being duel narrated. some is, some is badly edited and the female is doing corvins voice. emotional amazing story, looking forward to book 3 and the continued story and desperate to know more about the stranger. Just needs someone to listen to it and fix/edit the mistakes.

4.2 ⭐'s but I still don't exactly know what I think about this series 🤷‍♀️😆

The 4.2 ⭐'s are because this is a vibes read for me, I simply really enjoy the books, the tone of them, the characters and on audiobook it's a great listen, It's not dark dark, but it definitely has that darker atmosphere which is right up my street.

I tried not to give anything away in my review of Blood and Betrayals, but I don't think I can get away with that for this one 😂 And honestly, some of my thoughts probably add to the whole "I don't know what the hell I think about this series" situation.

- I love the friends, family and found family in this series,
- Summer, I actually like her as a character, there are a lot of FMC's that I'm not keen on in Romantasy/Fantasy series as they often feel annoying or weakly written, I don't feel like that about Summer but the indecision? hmmmm? And then there are a few moments where she goes completely to the opposite end of the scale and becomes incredibly reactive and decisive without actually communicating first. I wouldn't say it's full on the miscommunication trope but it's like "do you want to talk it out before you decide what you're going to do"
- Alice and especially Rafe 💗 honestly I'd read/listen to a whole series about Rafe, I love him, and I like Max too, but Rafe has definitely stolen the show and my heart.
- a bit more of a give away coming up, Connor, I honestly thought something magical would happen so he ended up back as he was in the first book, I still don't know if he won't come back more, who knows, and I think I'm ok with how his story is going even though it's not black and white of he's here or he's not, but I do feel a little confused about how I feel about it overall (because of guilt, being able to move on and all that jazz) - although Connor is a golden retriever character I still love him and usually my tears are reserved for later in books but the beginning of this one had me in tears over Connor, his family and Rafe.
- Now the Stranger, he is my kind of MMC, I love him and basically every trope that comes along with him. Possessive? ✔️ Obsessive? ✔️ Dark? ✔️ Mysterious? ✔️ Magical? ✔️ Morally very dark grey? ✔️ Vulnerable underneath it all? ✔️, I think there's something wrong me that he ticks all my book boyfriend boxes but I honestly don't care. I've seen a few reviews commenting on not liking who The Stranger might be, and I say "might be" because we still don't actually know, it could be that the reveal near the end of the book is exactly who he is, or it could be deliberately designed to make us think that's who he is, and honestly, I don't actually care either way because there is so much more about The Stranger that we still have to learn and about Summer too, their backgrounds, who they are to each other, what future was he told? is Summer really only in her 20's? etc etc, also how many romantasy and dark romances have age gap and taboo ish tropes, and we can't forget a lot of how The Stranger appears is with avatars and glamours, so even if he is who the cliffhanger suggests, is he really that person or is that just another persona he hides as - you get where I'm going with this. And I'm not stupid. I know stories aren't written so they're completely predictable, and there isn't a straight line from A to HEA without a few massive detours, hiccups and WT... moments along the way. but Summer's reaction to who The Stranger could be without any communication is one of the biggies I felt was a little unfair, but equally I can understand the feeling of betrayal.
- and then my thoughts overall, there isn't a huge amount of plot progression in this book and in some books I'd probably find that a little annoying but I don't in this book, On the flip side, I also think there are series that don't give you enough time with the characters and their relationships because they're too focused on moving the plot along, this book does focus on the characters and their relationships to each other a lot, with a little bit of plot progression which is more focused on Alice and Rafe's "bigger picture", we still don't know the bigger overall story generally and especially in relation to The Stranger and Summer - past, present or future (although I have a feeling three or four of them are eventually going to end up as rulers)
- Also Summer's pet name for Connor still makes me cringe.
they're all just points/opinions though - none of that changes that it's a really enjoyable series and I can't wait for the next book,

On audio: both narrators do an amazing job of bringing the story and characters to life, but as usual, Corvin King is "chefs kiss" I could listen to him read the phone book tbh

4.2 ⭐'s - absolutely love Rafe 💗
