'This is the book that puts all the evidence before the people' Jean-Pierre Gazeau, uncle of Sophie Toscan du Plantier

'An outstanding and compelling read' Micheál Martin TD

'A comprehensive and compelling collection of circumstantial evidence' Irish Times

Journalist Senan Molony was the first national crime correspondent on the scene of Sophie Toscan du Plantier's brutal murder in December 1996, ahead of a chain of events that would shock the nation.

The 2024 death of prime suspect Ian Bailey reopens the case for Molony, who goes behind the scenes to tell the full chilling story - from first seeing the Englishman as someone with impressive inside sources, to his moment of awakening at Bailey's arrest for a murder the suspect freely wrote about in the national press.

The book charts the astonishing early days of a doomed investigation and times thereafter as Bailey - a violent misogynist and pathological liar - escaped charge or trial in Ireland despite convincing evidence.

Including interviews with Sophie's family, key garda investigators, local witnesses and Bailey himself, it explodes commonly held myths and brings to light fresh and disturbing disclosures, amounting to damning proof of guilt.

Poorly voiced, no need for all the accents. Good story overall though. A good final taught in this horrific story.

Great Story

Brushes over the incompetence of the guards, leaves out much of the facts that have appears on other similar works that may be used to question Baileys guilt as well as being littered small pointed comments about the authors obvious dislike of Bailey. Incredibly biased but worth a listen for those interested in the case.

Important book, with good narration and detail that flows. Clearly points at one broken and dispicable man who escaped real justice. The circumstantial evidence appears overwhelming and deserved a jury review. RIP Sophie.

Very sad, but a riveting account

This is an excellent book with so many small details that help consolidate the final verdict.
I too have no doubt of Ian Bailey’s guilt . I hope this book in some way helps Sophie’s son Pierre and family.

Superb read

Having listened to different books and programmes on this case, I think this book nails it and brings it all together very well. It is very well researched and put together. The only annoying thing is the editing of the chapters being too close together and not leaving enough of a pause.

Interesting and well researched
