I love the way Carol Ann Lee brings these people alive and tells their story in a measured , empathetic and interesting way . Thorough research means that many of the myths surrounding the Pendle and Samlesbury witches , perpetuated through the intervening centuries, have been debunked and at last they have been given a fair hearing and a voice. The details of crime and punishment in that era are fascinating. I can’t recommend this book enough.

listen from start to finish especially how the author broke it down so it was easy to follow and understand throughout the book. The narrator was very good.

Really liked it, so interesting and well researched. Sometimes the details goes off on a tangent or into the written evidence and it can lose you a bit but overall I enjoyed it
