"The policewoman got shot, and she's bleeding everywhere. Get someone here in one hour, or I'm going to put her out of her misery."

An ultimatum that forever changes the lives of police officer Sam Lucas and Dr. Kate Myles. When heavy snowfall isolates the small English village of Birchenlow, a violent robbery shatters the community. Taken as a hostage and stranded with the increasingly desperate criminals, Sam is seriously injured during an ill-fated escape attempt. Already struggling to save the lives of the villagers caught up in the raid, Kate volunteers to walk straight into the lion's den. Cut off from help, with only each other to rely on, Sam and Kate must find a way to fight the odds and stay alive. The growing attraction between them gives them an even more desperate will to survive.

At first it took a while to get used to the voice of the narrator, I wasn't expecting anything great, the last few books I've bought have been average to disappointing and I thought I must've heard all the best books....so it took a while to get into.
There's not much depth of characters or description, the story focuses on the action which drives the narrative, but it does keep you interested, in fact it would make a good action movie.
So overall while not being a masterpiece of literature, it's enjoyable enough to stick with til the end, even the corney bits are forgiveable.
It's not a bad thing to enjoy a light read now and then!
It's good to see other authors being given a chance in this genre full of the awful and ubiquitous Radclyffe & Georgia Beers.
There should be more variety of authors being given a chance instead of the same old formulaic dirge that is tedious and repetitive.
Would recommend for a light read.

A good light read, with an original storyline.

As someone who works for emergency services.. book is a fab version of what really we see and what sometimes goes through our minds. Backed up by a storey that is believable and decent characters. love it

Cari Hunter is a wonderful storyteller of gritty crime novels and Snowbound is no exception. Wincing, breath holding, tears and laughter all in one great storyline. I know this fro reading the book but Lesley Parkin has done an amazing job to bring that story and it’s character to life. AWESOME!!

Gritty and engaging

The really liked the storyline
But hated the narrators accents. I found myself cringing and skipping forward.

Ok. I’ll get the ‘cons’ out of the way first. Wasn’t keen on the narrator. Turned up to 1.25 speed did help, but the voice hasn’t done the story any favours.
Right. The ‘pros’. :) :) :). This is Cari Hunter’s first novel. It’s an absolute edge-of-the-seat crime/thriller/understated lesbian romance. I first bought the paperback, then the ebook, then the audio version. I reread and relisten every few months. Doesn’t matter that I know the story. Still just as gripping.
Tip: try Cari Hunter’s Dark Peak series in print and audio. Different narrator. You won’t be sorry. Trust me. :)

Cracking first novel
