One survivor. Two detectives. Twenty-four hours to catch a killer.

Detective Sergeant Theo Wilde is out of second chances. After a five-month suspension that nearly ended his career, he's been given one last assignment: to guard Rachel Raines, the sole survivor and witness to a terrifying serial killer.

Dubbed the ‘sleeping beauty’ by the press, Rachel lies in a coma in hospital, fighting for her life. But as Theo obeys his orders to watch over her, another victim is strangled in broad daylight.

With the body count rising, Theo partners with his former colleague, DC Hannah Colby, and together they begin to identify a pattern in the past – a portrait of a malicious killer, with Rachel lying at the centre of it.

Theo can feel the pressure mounting, but there’s no escape. He must dive headfirst into a deadly game of cat and mouse, where even the thickest of hospital walls can’t keep the killer away.

Perfect for fans of Dept Q and Happy Valley, SLEEPING BEAUTIES is a heart-pounding new detective series narrated by Holliday Grainger (The Capture) and Billy Howle (On Chesil Beach).

So many times I think about cancelling audible due to too many bad books then one like this comes along and changes my mind. The ironic part is, it was a freebie.

Very nice.

Conclusion doesn’t fit the timeline particularly well and whodunit becomes obvious early on.

Audio performance is good, but the plot is pretty thin and unbelievable for serious fans of crime fiction.

Too predictable

Great thriller with some good twists and turns, it kept the pace going well. I think this has the potential for another book…

Great Narration

Narrated well apart from Holliday’s pronunciation of ‘says’ which grated. Story a little predictable in places but an enjoyable listen, especially for a freebie.

Enjoyable listen
