Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd.

But six years haven't come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd's obituary, he can't keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd's wife he's hoping for... but she is not Natalie - and Jake's world is turned completely inside out.

As Jake searches for the truth, his picture-perfect memories of Natalie begin to unravel. Mutual friends of the couple either can't be found or don't remember Jake. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake's search for the woman who broke his heart - and who lied to him - soon puts his very life at risk as it dawns on him that the man he has become may be based on carefully constructed fiction.

I really enjoyed this book, my first Coben novel. Though I have to admit that there are so many twists and turns that by the last few chapters I quite literally had no idea what was going on. So I sacked off the last couple and got another Coben book. I saw from other reviews that some don't line this narrator but I think he's great, nice voice, great range of voices (women sound like gremlins but I can kind of forgive that). All in all, an entertaining book that I can recommend.

So many twists!

My first Harlen Coben book and it won’t be my last! Twist and turns! Kept me guessing!

Gripping Listen

Fast paced and enjoyable. The narrator manages to keep you interested throughout. The plot becomes quite complicated and hard to follow at points and a little ridiculous towards the end but overall this doesn’t seem to matter.
Perhaps the main drawback is that the story is quite violent and some of the fight scenes don’t lend themselves to audio. It is well performed by Kerry Shale.

Enjoyable listen.

I have read a number of Coben's thrillers and like the others, this one immediately grabs you with intrigue. However it didn't really offer anything different from his previous tales.
Dare I say it was a bit too formulaic? Yes, I think so. I tired of the same techniques that I had read in his previous books and although overall I enjoyed the experience, I was left feeling a little unsatisfied. Good but not great

Classic Coben?

Very good story not knowing if Natalie as alive or dead. Lots of plot twists and turns keep you interested throughout and very well narrated.

Got me from the start
