Does a bear shift in the woods?

Well, partially. That was what got grizzly-shifter Ted Farnsworth into trouble. He wasn’t trying to break the Secrecy Pact. He just wants people to see the real him. So he signs up with the mate-matching service Supernatural Selection - which guarantees marriage to a perfect partner. Not only will Ted never be lonely again, but once his new beaver-shifter husband arrives, they’ll build Ted’s dream wilderness retreat together. Win-win.

Quentin Bertrand-Harrington, scion of an incubus dynasty, has abstained from sex since nearly killing his last lover. When his family declares it’s time for him to marry, Quentin decides the only way not to murder his partner is to pick someone who’s already dead. Supernatural Selection finds him the ideal vampire, and Quentin signs the marriage agreement sight unseen.

But a mix-up at Supernatural Selection contracts Quentin with Ted. What’s Ted supposed to do with an art historian who knows more about salad forks than screwdrivers? And how can Quentin resist Ted’s mouthwatering life force? Yet as they work together to untangle their inconvenient union, they begin to wonder if their unexpected match might be perfect after all.

I really enjoyed this book! It was well written and the characters were interesting and relatable. The world the author has created is also very interesting and I would like to learn more about the magic and the different types of supernatural creatures. I loved the romance too. There were some great tropes in the book and they were used great. Enemies to friends to lovers, forced proximity, arranged marriage. The chemistry between the main characters was beautiful and I enjoyed that there were realistic issues that kept them apart. I also liked how they were resolved. The book was funny, romantic and very interesting. I loved it. The narrator did an absolutely fantastic job bringing this story to life.

Wonderful book!

This book was a wonderful surprise. Great worldbuilding, riveting story, some snarky humor and interesting characters. I love Quentin and Ted. I’ve listened to other narrations by Greg Boudreaux, and liked them very much, but this narration is superb! The way he uses different voices, giving life to each character, is just… Wow! I bought the next two audiobooks before I even finished this one.

What a gem!

So glad I found this author. This is the first book I've listed to by them but will be getting the next in the series. It's got a good flow, comedic moments and is just a lovely easy to listen to story about an unexpected couple.

Greg is always a great narrator, and this is no exception. A narrator can absolutely make or break a book but he did a brilliant job so thank you to him!
