Alchemist. Poisoner. Reluctant Queen.

Wren Embervale knows her duty demands a crown, even if it means a strategic betrothal to the influential Lord Darian Devereux. Their arranged marriage promises the formidable army she needs to wrestle her kingdom from the clutches of the tyrannical usurper, Silas. Yet, Wren’s heart still belongs to Torj Elderbrock, her soul-bonded Warsword.

Torn between her pragmatic alliance and the visceral pull of her bond with Torj, Wren must navigate a treacherous landscape of courtly intrigue and looming war. As Silas’s shadow alchemy tightens its grip on the midrealms and a creeping poison steals Torj’s strength, Wren’s carefully constructed facade begins to crack. Can she play the dutiful fiancée to secure her throne, while her body and soul yearns for the warrior who would lay down his life for her? Or will the tangled threads of political necessity leave her kingdom—and her heart—in ashes?

From the Sunday Times bestselling author of Iron & Embers, Silver & Smoke is the blistering finale to the Ashes of Thezmarr series.

I absolutely loved Legends and Ashes Of Thezmarr for me both series are the perfect mix of fantasy, plot and romance, in a world you can imagine, with likeable main and side characters, I think Ashes just pipped it though, probably because all the leg work of world building and character introductions were done in Legends so we all know where we are when Ashes starts but also because Wren is a strong FMC that's a fighter in her own right but she's book smart too (which appeals to a geek like me) then there's Torj .... enough said, although I was convinced there would be a HEA and certain things would come to pass I stayed up until gone 3am listening just to make sure, and the moment later on in the book when it felt like it was an "all is lost" situation and a particular thing happened I was kicking my feet, the banter was cracking again and I would be more than happy if there were more books in this world some day, as I'd dive right in.

Sad to finish the series,

This is the 3rd book of the ashes of theszmarr.
Torj is dying of an unknown poison and Wren is blackmailed into marrying Dorien by his father Lucian who apparently has the antidote.
This book sees the battle between Wren and Silas, the prophecy being realised and a HEA.
I got very emotional when Torj was near his ending and I am glad for the outcome.
I loved that Thea and Wilder were in these books as were Cal and Kip as well as other warswords including the prince of hearts.
I loved the whole series. 😍
Narration was good.

Brilliant

I can never get enough of the worlds that Helen Scheuerer creates! The plots are twisty, the angst palbable, the love bone deep!
To say I inhaled this trilogy is an understatement; after the Legends of Thezmar, I craved a return to the midrealms, and this delivered 10 fold.

Alchemy, war, family, love!
