It started with a phone call. Just one word - ‘Jessica’ - and now Detective Inspector Jessica Daniel has a big problem.

Her missing friend, Bex, called from a battered seaside payphone, and yet, by the time Jessica arrived, there was nobody there.

One man claims he can help - but then he turns up on a beach stabbed to death.

Jessica believes someone must be framing her. Someone who is always a step ahead. When she finds a boy whose tattoo matches Bex's, she becomes more desperate than ever for answers. But with the police growing more suspicious, Jessica doesn’t have long to find Bex before she becomes the prime suspect for a murder.

With more than her career at stake, can Jessica clear her name - and find her friend - before it’s too late for them both?

Listened all day to the audible. Excellent story as usual and I really enjoy this narrator she sounds like Joe Brand .

Excellent

First let me say this is well worth a credit. excellent book. Great narration good story. That being said it is now getting a bit dated. I can't say in what way it would be a spoiler. But as long as you listen to it in context that's fine. I did guess the reveal about half way through, but it didn't detract from a great listen.

Very Good

Jessica Daniel is back with another breathtaking tale of crime and yet again she finds herself right in the middle and up to her eyeballs in trouble. I highly recommend this book to fans of Jessica Daniel and first-timers alike, although be prepared to become addicted if you haven't read any Jessica books before. I'm already keenly anticipating Book 14!!!!

Another book of pure gold

Although this doesn't race along at 100 miles an hour, there is a lot of action going on under the surface. Exactly what I have come to enjoy about Kerry Wilkinson. Brilliantly narrated.

Brilliant story

...and not just Blackpool's Pleasure Beach in the background :)

The Shanty is a brilliant place, and Kerry has filled it with marvellous characters. Gotta love Fran.

When Becs turns up I shouted "YES!" and might have had tears in my eyes, but someone was chopping onions... somewhere.
And when Becs didn't leave with Jess, I was as confused and dismayed as Jess was, I'm sure.

Major props, no bloody Archie, thank heavens. Though there was very little sign of Izzy and nothing from Dumbo Dave either.

Bit of a roller coaster...
