Sherlock Holmes: the Great Detective. A man obsessed with cold logic and focused rationality.

H. P. Lovecraft: the 20th century’s undisputed master of macabre madness and cosmic horror.

What if the darkness of Lovecraft’s decadent New England overlapped into the Victorian era of Sherlock Holmes? Twenty-five new stories across two volumes pit Holmes and Watson against myriad nightmares from Lovecraft’s fiction—and against those nightmares which his writings have inspired. Join us as we journey from the familiar fog of Baker Street to the rotting gambrel roofs of Arkham, the blasphemous library of Miskatonic University, and beyond....

I found it too great an effort to forge a link between the Holmes I know and love, to this rather odd - lacklustre, maybe? - collection of “dark” - silly, maybe? - tales.
Narration as always excellent, which is why I marked it up.
Holmes always best when dealing with more earthly problems, and the game being afoot in foggy Victorian London…Not a complete waste of time, but you won’t miss anything if you avoid this particular collection…

Fun, but not Sherlock Holmes

I admit to being a big fan of both the Holmes books and Cthulhu mythos. This anthology is a great idea that mostly works very well. There are a few stories where our investigators discover the cults for the first time, which does jar slightly. That said the narratives ate structured so there is progress. And I was pleased it wasn't all London and New England

The narration was solid, easy to differentiate between characters. The pronunciation of Cthulhu was odd, but its an odd word! id be interested to hear what happens in volume 2. 👍

Oh for the days when the Doyle canon of Holmes & Watson into investigative situations was adhered to! This embarrassing glutinous poppycock might be of vague interest to followers of the rather peculiar & likely mentally afflicted American writer Lovecraft, but it has no interest whatsoever for those who like the typical stories of Sherlock Holmes & Dr John Hamish Watson. It is nicely read though! It makes the horrific recent rewritings by the BBC of some of Agatha Christie's stories almost watchable. A note to would be authors: if you feel you have a genuine story to write - then use your own characters and plot line and don't steal from authentic writers.

What a load of utter nonsensical tosh & garbage!
