Radio’s greatest sleuths, bar none - here are Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson!

Deep voiced Basil Rathbone (with his deerstalker cap and chiseled silhouette) gives his definitive portrayal of Holmes, while Nigel Bruce (Hollywood’s favorite jolly old Englishman) lends support as the delightfully amazed Watson.

Venture into the fog and mist of Victorian London for 16 mind-challenging thrillers. Solve cases of intrigue and blackmail, of missing gems and missing persons, of maharajas and murder - all inspired by incidents in the original stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

For me its actually Nigel Bruce that makes these stories come to life. Ive also watched all the 14 movies they made around that time too.

Excellent.

Some publishers of Audible books must truly hate their customers. Or else they can’t be bothered to spend a few pounds in an editing suite. This collection of stories, beautifully performed by Nigel Bruce and Basil Rathbone is completely ruined by intrusive adverts for an American wine company and the most jarring organ playing between sequences. If it’s supposed to be “mood” music, it only succeeds in giving the list a bad mood. I managed 3 stories, gave up and returned title. What a shame. Full 5 stars for the performance and the tale; 0 stars for the publisher’s poor production.

Wonderful stories ruined by Adverts, drivel & organ
