From best-selling author comes a new pause-resisting series that almost feels like a screenplay.

Shots firedleaves two dead and two wounded. Detective Tap, now a widow, must try to overcome her guilt and paranoia that the shooter was after her. Afraid now that her profession has led to endangering her family, she struggles to get emotionally well so she can establish some kind of normalcy in her children's lives again and help find the killer.

For a shorter story this has a lot going on and I mean that in a good way. I can’t imaging the feelings going on in this family after such a loss. The story is told a little than what I’m used, but I still enjoyed it.

Narration has a lovely voice, but sadly the recording is not a clear and crisp one. So sometimes you feel like your in a barrel. In the beginning I also thought the narrator was reading it strange but in other parts not. I believe that is how the author wrote the book. Overall I look forward to more books in the series

This book is different from what I am used to, with short sentences and narrated in the present tense, but it works. It is a captivating (and sometimes emotional) story with realistic characters and a sweet romance.
Ann Bumbak’s narration is perfect for this book.

Captivating story.
