Shane was officially one of Britain’s most dangerous prisoners. He had been on the run for two separate accounts of attempted murder. When in prison he took a hostage, stabbed two prison officers, and orchestrated riots. In a maximum security prison, he was locked up in solitary in a special cell with only cardboard furniture and allowed no human contact. Every time he was moved out of his cell, it took seven officers with shields and full riot gear, even then he nearly killed one of the officers.

Then an extraordinary miracle stopped him in his tracks. In the very darkest place, the light can shine the brightest, his transformation was remarkable.

Nicky Gumbel says “Shane changed from one of the most dangerous men in the prison system...his story is inspiring.”

Tim Hughes says it is “A gripping story that exudes hope”.

The Cross and the Switchblade for today's generation.
