On the eve of Waterloo, a sense of finality and cautious hope pervade a nation wearied by decades of war. But peace will present its own challenges to Adam Bolitho, captain of His Majesty's Ship Unrivalled, as many of his contemporaries face the prospect of discharge. The life of a frigate captain is always lonely, even more so for Adam, mourning the death of his uncle. He is, more than ever, alone, within the Royal Navy, where the only constants are the sea and those enemies who conspire to destroy him.

Excellent, a real pleasure and a hidden gem. The narrator brought the story alive. Bravo to the author

The recording is awful, especially at the start but if you stick it out it gets a bit better.

Awful quality

I love the entire series but for some reason this books playback for me had a very strange sound. No where as clear as every other audible book which have been fantastic. In fairness I was offered a credit to return but as a collector of the series I declined as I could not miss the book. Again every other audible book I have had or listened to have been superb quality but just an issue with recording on this one. Your playback may be better of course. Happy listening, I love my audible books.

Great story and great series

It was a struggle to listen to. The sound quality was not good and the story was more of a dragged out description of the state of play after the demise of our hero

Awful recording quality

Yes, but it’s an old recording that has not weathered the passage of time well.

Another great story, we will all miss Sir Richard but Adam has stepped up to carry on our adventures together!
