The acclaimed best-selling classic of Holocaust literature, winner of the Booker Prize and the inspiration for the classic film Schindler's List.

In the shadow of Auschwitz, a flamboyant German industrialist grew into a living legend to the Jews of Cracow. He was a womaniser, a heavy drinker and a bon viveur, but to them he became a saviour. A stunning novel based on the extraordinary true story of German war profiteer and factory director Oskar Schindler, who came to save more Jews from the gas chambers than any other single person during World War II.

In this milestone of Holocaust literature, Thomas Keneally, author of Daughter of Mars, uses the actual testimony of the Schindlerjuden - Schindler’s Jews - to brilliantly portray the courage and cunning of a good man in the midst of unspeakable evil.

This was a tough listen not just because of the story but the amount of detail. This is be expected though as it is not a novel but a highly factual account of a very dark time in history. I feel it is a book that needs to be heard/read by all. 'lest we forget'

Schindler's list is definitely a must read for everybody. not only for the elements of the story and the characters but because it is a very good account of the second world war from the perspective of the persecuted.

the only thing I didn't enjoy with this audiobook where's that I felt sometimes it went on into unnecessary detail occasionally, and it seemed as if the narrator was reading it as if he'd ended a sentence but then carried on as if it was a new sentence but was actually finishing the last sentence. but these instances were very few and far between.

overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it genuinely spurred me to look into the events in history of the second world war and the people who were involved.

Good but drags a little

Well acquainted with Nazi history this book puts you into the scenarios and let’s you feel just a small part of the Jews terror at the those Nazi’s more than happy to believe Hitlers false narrative.

I hope the world is never allowed to forget the wartime brutalism of the Nazi regime.

A frightening true story

A well written book, which is a very difficult subject to write about. Fantastically narrated.

I’ve seen the film and was horrified how other humans could treat others with such cruelty and distain.

Thankfully people such as Oskar Schindler are a shining light on humanity

Fantastic And Sad
