Will Rabjohns, perhaps the most famous wildlife photographer in the world, has made his reputation chronicling the fates of endangered species. But after a terrible accident, Will is left in a coma. And in its depths, he revisits the wildernesses of his youth and relives his life with a mysterious couple who have influenced his life as an artist and a man.

When Will awakens, he sets out on a journey of self-discovery - one where he will penetrate the ultimate mystery and finally unlock the secret of his destiny.

Soaring, provocative and passionate, Sacrament is a masterwork from the pen of one of today's most acclaimed authors.

I struggled to get past the first few chapters, but after several attempts, I made concerted effort to finish it, and I'm glad I did. It is a very depressing story and I would have liked more uplifting moments but that's the thing with Clive Barker... you never know if he'll fill your dreams with angels or demons.

Compelling once you get over the initial chapters

I've loved this book ever since reading it as a teenager but why did they choose this narrator? at first I thought it was AI, but then realised he just sounds like it , completely ruined the experience for me

Barker does a good job at telling a moving and philosophical horror type story. not one of his best, though.
The story is somewhat slow and is tedious in the middle and towards the end, unlike Barker.
Characters were well written and in gaging.
Narrated done well, although his attempts at a female voice characters were cringeing at times and laughable, especially the American ones.

While certainly not up there with Clive Barker's best work ( Weaveworld & Imajica), Sacrament is definitely worth a listen. It's beautifully written with some great characters.
I really enjoyed Chris MacDonnell's narration. His Southern American accent was slightly off for one of the characters, but the other characterisations were spot on. It was a pleasure to listen to.
Another quality presentation from Crossroad Press.
Highly recommended.
