Ember Hill left the dragon organization Talon to take her chances with rebel dragon Cobalt and his crew of rogues. But Ember can't forget the sacrifice made for her by the human boy who could have killed her - Garret Xavier Sebastian, a soldier of the dragon-slaying Order of St. George, the boy who saved her from a Talon assassin, knowing that by doing so he'd signed his own death warrant.
Determined to save Garret from execution, Ember must convince Cobalt to help her break into the order's headquarters. With assassins after them and Ember's own brother helping Talon with the hunt, the rogues find an unexpected ally in Garret and a new perspective on the underground battle between Talon and St. George.
A reckoning is brewing, and the secrets hidden by both sides are shocking and deadly. Soon Ember must decide: Should she retreat to fight another day...or start an all-out war?

The pacing in Rogue is expertly calibrated. Kagawa ramps up the tension from the first chapter, alternating between explosive action sequences and intimate, character-driven moments. The story feels faster and more urgent than the first book, yet it still allows quieter scenes — emotional revelations, betrayals, and internal conflicts — to breathe. Each chapter propels you forward, making it nearly impossible to pause.
The expanded cast of narrators elevates the audiobook experience. Caitlin Davies continues to deliver Ember’s perspective with nuance and intensity, capturing her internal conflict and growing strength. MacLeod Andrews and Chris Patton bring depth and distinction to the male characters, balancing intensity, humour, and emotion with perfect timing. The addition of Tristan Morris adds fresh energy and perspective, ensuring new characters and viewpoints feel immediately distinct and engaging.
Dialogue flows naturally, action sequences are vividly clear, and emotional beats hit with impact — all thanks to the narrators’ precise control of pacing and tone. Their performances harmonize beautifully, making shifts in perspective seamless and enhancing the story’s tension and drama.
With high stakes, relentless pacing, and a cast of narrators who bring every character vividly to life, Rogue is a thrilling audiobook experience that lives up to the promise of the first book — and then some.
A must-listen for fans of dragons, adventure, and narration that makes every moment feel cinematic.
