Chase acts like my defender, but what does he really want? My public humiliation? To keep me friendless and exposed? For my next eight months to be under his control? How about, all of the above?

The Nobles.

We come from high society, but the grooming process starts in high school.

And we always recruit in the dark.

As a result, our messes are rarely clean and never brought to light.

Money's not an issue, and usually, neither are our members.

Until one decides to betray us.

Let this be a lesson to our initiates: Never choose love over loyalty.

And a word to Chase Stone, Briarcliff’s most sought-after student - if you tell the new girl we exist, it won't just be you that pays the price.

Me, the new girl.

Well, crap.

Rival is the first full-length novel in the Briarcliff Society Series and contains enemies-to-lovers, bullying, and other mature themes. Recommended for listeners 17 and over. It is not a stand-alone and ends on a cliff-hanger.

Rival is an excellent start to the Briarcliff Secret Society Series; it's a wonderfully written, dark, and engaging bully high-school romance. The storyline is fast-paced and intense with plenty of drama, steam, mystery, deception, betrayal, and of course, a secret society and bullying. There are enough twists and turns to make the story unpredictable and exciting. The characters are appealing, multilayered, realistic for their age, circumstances, and situations they're in. I really liked how the story unfolded and the direction it's leaning towards. I'm eager to find out what comes next, especially for Callie and Chase.

A stellar performance by Addison Barnes! She was fantastic with the characters, embodied them flawlessly. She altered her tone and inflections to match the characters, and I loved her male voice. Rival was an enjoyable and entertaining listen with an interesting take on the bully romance genre. Rival was so worth the listen, one I'm recommending.

The narrator was amazing, she did the guys voice well. The story was a good one with twists and so much to find out in the next books. I would say try the book and see. This book is a romance with murder and lots of secrets from what I can tell from the first installment. Worth a read👌

Loved it
