Audiobook purchased early 2022. To my ears there was no problems with the sound quality. I think Audible must have fixed the issues that have been reported earlier.
Excellent reading by Tony Britton. I’ve always found Tony Britton to be the perfect narrator of Dick Francis’s books.

No Problem With Sound Quality

To start I should say that I was nervous about downloading this one due to many reviews saying parts of the audio were missing, but I was downloading in Jan 2021 and audible must have fixed the download because there was nothing missing here. The track is a little grainy but fine to listen to.

The plot is standard Francis - accountant and part time jockey gets mixed up with some wrong-uns without realising why and then had to fathom out who is behind it all from a cast of half a dozen possibles.

For me, neither his best (I like some of the early ones better like Nerve and For Kicks) or worst (Flying Finish and Rat Race), but somewhere in the middle. Worth a credit and will listen to it again in a few months.

Recording quality ok, narration good, plot decent.

A slowly building plot which has several unexpected twists, comes to an interesting conclusion, a good story.
