Nothing will be as it was. Cities will crumble to ash. Ashen wastes will become lush and fertile. Rulers will serve, and servants will rule.

After being appointed Archmage, Nill finds himself in a bind. On the one hand, he now holds the office of a powerful magician, but on the other, his actual magical abilities are weak.

Nill has no choice but to leave Ringwall and go in quest of the old magic, but the journey is perilous—especially because of Nill’s old rival Sergor-Don, who took up his inheritance as King of the Fire Kingdom.

But the young ruler is not satisfied with his new kingdom. He wants to lead the Fire Kingdom back to its ancient strength and power with only one goal in mind: Ringwall's doom.

The reading was excellent and the story was somewhat interesting. however, the main character is frustrating and tiresome. He is useless in most aspects and somehow everything works out for him 🙄. The book would be so much better if the main character were competent... at anything! I find myself rooting for the evil prince and wanting to hear less about Nil.

It's.... Meh

I’ve continued with this series in the hope that the promise in the outline of a story would be realised. There are moments when the story is good and catchers seem likeable - almost but the characters are one dimensional, you want to like them particularly the lead but can’t because they’re so poorly written. The lead in particular is extremely frustrating due to being so poorly written. A shame as there really is promise here. My advice? Cut your losses. I made the mistake of buying the third and thinnest the end have thrown in the towel. Why is it so hard to find new, decent authors these days?

Derrick Perkins is great as always.

Spent to much time waiting for it all to make sense

very little personality to the characters, the magic system is good and a nice idea but you get the feeling that the protagonist isn't challenged.

boring
