Editorial Review

A spooky-sweet romantic mystery
In this supernatural love story set in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Nicholas Sparks ventures outside of North Carolina and beyond the realm of romance in collaboration with filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan (the pride of Philadelphia). It’s a creative combo I never expected but eagerly listened to, if only to see what they would come up with. And it works! The romance is swoon-worthy and oh-so-sweet. Plus, the eerie, paranormal edge totally creeped me out (in a good way). Narrators Ari Fliakos and Julia Whelan are perfectly cast as Tate and Wren—another brilliant pairing you’ll absolutely fall in love with. Listen now, and watch the movie next year!—Tricia F., Audible Editor

I downloaded this audiobook after seeing the film trailer and thinking it looked promising. I've been a Shyamalan fan for a long time and appreciate a good twist in a story! The initial set up lays out the supernatural element of the story and it's so obvious that I thought surely there must be several more twists ahead! Unfortunately this was not the case and it ended up being a fairly predictable story. The performance is excellent and can't fault it at all. The "scary" elements of it did not spook me at all but despite that I thought the writing was good, very descriptive and at no points did it waffle on longer than needed.

Disappointingly predictable

I was intrigued to see what this prolific author and inventive filmmaker would come up with - maybe I set the bar too high. It's a sweet supernatural love story, however all the plot twists and turns were very clunky and obvious long before they were revealed, which was frustrating. It was read well though and I stuck it out until the end, but ultimately I was left feeling disappointed that it couldn't have been cleverer.

Nice idea but predictable
