A mother-daughter relationship faces a harrowing test in Eric Micha Holmes’s masterfully crafted thriller Rapture Season. When Mia mysteriously disappears from her college campus, her mother Joyce fears the worst — and a warning from Mia’s ex-boyfriend reveals she may have left the country to join a cult. Joyce impulsively launches a cross-continental trip to rescue her, gradually learning more about the seductive cult leader via audio tapes her daughter left behind. Rapture Season is a truly engrossing and hypnotic experience, offering a bracing examination of race, identity, radical ideology, and the resilience of familial bonds.

Directed by Megan Sandberg Zakian.

This stylish short story is a psychological drama mystery that is very well produced and acted. Three voices inter-twine across a backdrop of sound effects to evoke a glacial world of the frozen tundra where we hear the tale of a mother desperately in search of her lost daughter. This is chilling in more ways that one.

Well crafted production of chilling story

I was very interested in the beginning.Idea of cult /older seductive academic teacher and possessive overprotective mother as an opposite in life of young student.
Wasted potential...too weird and figure od mother annoying to bits.Shame.

Good start which is going nowhere

Intricately and delicately written, beautifully performed; the book is well researched and the pacing and plot structure are bang on.

A full five stars on all counts
