I really enjoyed the first two prequels but this one I battled through - mainly as I’d bought the part two which has good reviews. There were so many ridiculous analogies and parts - such as the “whole street” hearing Kylie’s crying and the attentions to Gillian by men to mention just two. Some things were so long winded. Glad I’ve finished. If you’ve watched the movie it’s very different and that was fun.

The narration is tedious. Nearly every sentence ends in a whisper. I found myself drifting many times and having to rewind the book as I had no idea what was going on. The book itself is ok, but be mindful if you are listening to it in the car while driving with children, as the F word is one of her favourite words, which breaks the flow of the book a little, in my opinion.

Unfortunately the narration didn’t go well with me.

Having loved the film I really enjoyed the book. The story is slightly different and worth listening to.
