This empowering book includes a number of practical tools that women can use in their birth preparation, whether having a hospital or a home birth. It will equip you with confidence and help you to see how special the female body is. Melanie is passionate about helping women to empower themselves with the right questions if suggestions are made during pregnancy or when in labour. There is a strong emphasis on how fear affects physiology in labour and how women can support themselves with this, however the birth unfolds. Melanie Rossiter has spent many years working with pregnant women as a Hypnobirthing Teacher, Doula, Maternity Reflexologist and Pregnancy Massage therapist with her own birth preparation toolkit. She combines her own experience with her extensive training to offer advice to women who are embarking on the journey to becoming a mum.

Felt like having an insightful chat with an experienced friend who genuinely wants to help. Melanie Rossiter’s voice is calm and encouraging, making the 3 hours and 13 minutes fly by, especially with the practical tips she shares about managing fear and staying confident during labor. Her experience as a hypnobirthing teacher really shines through, and I appreciated how she balanced science with personal anecdotes.

On the downside, some parts felt a bit repetitive, especially if you’re already familiar with birthing techniques or have read similar resources. Still, it’s a solid listen for first-time parents or anyone looking for a positive, supportive take on childbirth. It’s an empowering guide that could make a real difference for anyone preparing for labor, whether you're the one giving birth or supporting from the sidelines.

Love how Melanie tackles the fear-physiology connection in labor while respecting that every birth journey is unique. Her doula experience really shines through, giving you tools rather than rules.
