Still in the formative years of his career, Hercule Poirot faces a most taxing case: who killed Lord Cronshaw? Was Coco Courtenay’s death on the same night a mere coincidence? And did she deliberately take an overdose of cocaine?

No sooner has Poirot revealed his astonishing powers of deduction than he is faced with seventeen other mysteries to test his soon-to-be-famous ‘little grey cells’.

As a matter of courtesy to a group of young people, he endeavours to solve the gruesome murder of a woman whose body they have stumbled upon whilst locked out of their flat, and with his usual precision and elan he discovers exactly how ‘Mary, Mary quite contrary’ makes her garden grow…

Really enjoyable and a perfect length to listen to on the commute or in the bath (or combining a few together!). I personally much preferred David Suchet's performance to Hugh Fraser's but both are good.

Brilliant short stories and David Suchet is superb

This book is very dear to me, as most of the stories have been turned into TV episodes where the brilliant David Suchet plays Poirot, a favourite series of mine. To hear the actor's voice narrating the stories, and to hear him speak as Poirot is pure delight. Each story is brief, but it is easy to slip into the world of Agatha Christie in each episode.
The wonderful Hugh Frasier also narrates some of the stories, and he does quite a good job, but alas, he is not Poirot - he does the accent, but his tone of voice doesn't change much when changing characters, making it a little hard sometimes to realise that the words spoken are now another character's than before.
Apart from this minor detail, I enjoyed this book very much and will certainly look for others where these actors are narrating.

David Suchet delivers beautifully

Ms Christy is not the greatest of authors but in Poirot she did produce a very intriguing character.
I knew all the stories here but nevertheless it was still very enjoyable.
