Can we become perfect? Even with our best intentions, we easily get caught in the trap of trying to do and be enough for our callings, our family, ourselves‚ even God. Trying to be perfect can lead to feeling like we‚ are never enough, feeding emotions like anxiety, guilt, and shame.
In Perfect in Christ: Trading the Burden of Enough for the Beauty of Sufficient, author Michelle Wilson invites us to stop trying to perfect ourselves and instead focus on moving closer to Jesus Christ, who can perfect us. With hope, faith, humility, and repentance, we are accepted by Christ who guides us to become more than we are capable of being on our own.
When we embrace the beauty of sufficient, obligation is replaced by motivation, anxiety is replaced by excitement, guilt is replaced by grace, and shame is replaced by love. As we move closer to Jesus Christ, His sufficient grace and strength will make us perfect‚ perfect in Him.
