A Vampire Chronicles novella from the internationally bestselling Anne Rice

In a cafe in modern-day Paris, in the aftermath of a fresh kill, the fearless and beautiful Pandora begins to tell her tale of treachery, vengeance and love stretching across two millennia. As a young mortal in Imperial Rome in the time of Caesar Augustus, Pandora was first introduced to the blood-tainted cult of Isis. Later, in exile in Antioch, she was drawn even further into the dark, ancient rites. Now looking back across the centuries, Pandora decides to return once more to New Orleans, to find the love of her early life, Marius, and to see once again the Vampire Lestat...

I did not gain much new knowledge about Pandora that was not already covered in earlier books. However, I enjoyed the writing style. While we were provided with some new information about Pandora's family life, there was nothing new added to the vampire lore. The meeting between Pandora and David felt too rushed and lacked any character development.

Some things I liked but overall all I a let-down

Literature I feel is a good use of the sands of my hour glass. Some year's ago I had the privilege to find myself accommodated in the basement of a NHS building. I like to read and had heard Anne Rice's literature is held in high regard. The floor I was on had a small library yet in it I found this gem of a vampire novel. Taken from the confines of my situation to the culture of ancient Rome, as a state educated man of low social economic station I found in this novel knowledge that opened my mind to information on how imperial culture functioned. The idea that a class subservient in society is respected for the skills and services they are capable of is only a small part of the story however it has brought me back to this book a number of time's. The story telling is both intelligent and first class I recommend this book.

This audiobook makes for a great history lesson into the ancient Roman Empire.

As part of the Vampire Chronicles I found it lacking in actual vampire action.

To ensure the Vampire Chronicles story flows correctly, you should listen / read this after Memnoch the Devil, and before The Vampire Armand. Rather than as a stand alone book.

More of a History Lesson Than a Vampire Chronicle

The duration flew by in no time! I was enjoying it a little too much, I thoroughly enjoyed it, it isn't just about another Vampire story, but it's entirely based on Pandora as a human living in ancient Antioch, once again David Talbot has convinced another immortal to pen down her early life in the ancient Roman period of Tiberius

A Mini but a Goodie, compact but good. Read with erotic matriculation bu Kate Reading

7 hours of history before anything resembling a vampire story. Great writing etc but come on.....
