This is so different, and like with some of her other books it feels oldie worldie, now, futuristic, here, otherwordly, magical and dystopian all rolled in to one! and I'm completely captivated by it, it's intriguing and mysterious, with the different POV's little by little bits of the story are unfolding, I'm loving it but at this stage I have no idea where it's going and can't wait to find out,

I listened to the audiobook of Deathless Shadows expecting a dark romance, but I honestly don't understand why it's marketed that way. If there's a romance, it's certainly not the focus of Book 1.
This first book is almost entirely world-building, but instead of drawing me in, it left me confused from beginning to end. I kept waiting for things to click, and they never really did. The plot felt difficult to follow, and by the end I still couldn't clearly explain what the story was actually about.
If someone asked me to summarize it, I'd probably say: there's a mass murder of adults, a group of orphaned children who somehow bond with mysterious shadow creatures... and beyond that, I'm honestly not sure. I finished the book more confused than intrigued.
The narration was fine, but it couldn't overcome my struggle with the story itself. Unfortunately, I lost interest long before the end and have no desire to continue with Book 2. I know some readers enjoy slow-burn, complex fantasy worlds, but this one just didn't work for me.

This book felt like I missed the first 5 chapters and like there wasn’t really a point to it? I dont know how else yo explain it

I have discovered KM Moronova recently because of an event I was attending and this book is absolutely mind blowing ❤️ the story is super unique, gripping, with twists I have never expected. The dark fantasy genre at it's finest! I honestly can't recommend it enough 🥹 I'm only disappointed in the fact not all books are out so I can't binge listen 😭
