“This sensational YA debut blends tense, terrifying horror with dark humour, queer romance and hugely original storytelling.” Guardian

November 1999, North Dana, Massachusetts. The body of Bastion Attia – high school quarterback, secret witch, and Nesbit Nuñez’s even-more-secret boyfriend – is discovered at the edge of Stepwood Cemetery. As Nesbit and his coven of queer misfits investigate Bastion’s death they discover local folktales of Mr. Nous, a terrifying wish-granting creature, one whose gifts come at a terrible price. The coven must do battle against an age-old evil before it strikes again …

Now, Conjurers is a wildly original, spinechilling YA debut about queer found family and a love that outlasts death.

‘This book is charm itself … smart, edgy, funny and heartfelt.’ – Tamsyn Muir – bestselling author of Gideon the Ninth

'This book is CHARM ITSELF. It's a high-octane high-camp horror funfair that is so smart and so edgy and funny and heartfelt and loving that I think teens who love it now will still pull it off the shelf when they are 40. Now, Conjurers is an evening with a movie from Blockbuster that's rated slightly too high for you to have legally rented it and the biggest, trashiest bag of popcorn, staying up until 3 AM with your friends and then having really savage nightmares afterwards for a week.’ – Tamsyn Muir, author of Gideon the Ninth
'This sensational YA debut blends tense, terrifying horror with dark humour, queer romance and hugely original storytelling.' Guardian
'An absolute 90s, technicolor, fever dream of a novel. Now, Conjurers takes readers on a ride that is, at once, tender and terrifying. I'd follow Nesbit and the North Coven anywhere.’ – Sasha Peyton Smith, NYT bestselling author of The Witch Haven
‘A rollicking and thoughtful take on the be-careful-what-you-wish-for trope. Kölsch holistically integrates serious issues with a deft touch that keeps the book both eerie and light in pleasantly equal measure.’ – Kirkus starred review
‘This supernatural thriller takes characters and readers alike on an emotional roller coaster of shocking revelations, culminating in a cathartic, action-packed climax … Kölsch spins together a web of hidden agendas, secret histories, and a terrifying otherworldly antagonist into a dark and chilling debut.’ – Publishing Weekly
‘I love it when I’ve no idea where a story is going to take me, and Now,Conjurers took me to some dark places, but I knew that I was in sure hands with Freddie’s writing. This was an absolutely wild ride, full of scares and horror as well as love and friendship.’ – Sally Green, bestselling author of the Half Bad trilogy

Such a refreshing different kind of tale. Loved the plot and characters, Great twists and turns, as well as, the author pointing out the obvious via the characters as you're guessing the twists.

Really hard to listen to with the amount of "Dove said" "Drea said" etc.
not a fan of the reader of this story due to him sounding like AI, or has recorded and reused the same "Dove said" over and over.

Good story/ AI reader...

I had to slow down the voice speed, which almost never happens to me. I often listen to titles at 1.5 or 2x speed. I’ve no idea what happened in the book because by chapter 4 I was getting so irritated by the intonation every time ‘dove said’ or ‘I said’ or ‘he said’ that I wanted to throw my phone across the room. I do have a hard copy of this so will be going on old school for this one. Urgh.

Irritating performance dnf

please use a better microphone, the S's and C's where horrible with headphones on. the story was mediocre, but getting to the end was hard. The gay, witches pulled me in but in reality it was a disappointment.
