December, 2018. The aftermath of a night of revelry. The promise of a party. And a journey into darkness that would change the course of Nikita Hand's life - as she endured a brutal assault where she believed she would die.

Here, Nikita tells her unforgettable story. From the bleak days that followed, reeling in shock and fear, to the long hours as she gave her Garda statement, trusting the truth would be enough. Then months holding her breath, only to discover there would be no prosecution.

When she took the decision that would define her future, Nikita Hand stepped into the glare of a civil case against one of the world's most powerful athletes, Conor McGregor. Through panic attacks, sleepless nights and a terrifying home invasion, she kept going. On into the courtroom, where she faced her perpetrator at arm's length - and spent four gruelling days in the witness box. The judgment would make headlines. The backlash would nearly break her.

Not the Perfect Victim is the unforgettable story of a woman reclaiming her power - a first-hand account of survival, defiance and the hard-won rebuilding of a life no one could take from her.©2026 Nikita Hand (P)2026 Hachette Books Ireland True Crime Women Heyecan verici Samimi Düşündürücü İlham verici

I have waited for this book since the moment Nikita announced it's release. I immediately bought it the moment it became available on audible.
The moment this case was on the news in 2018. I knew who did it. I rooted for Nikita every step of the way. This book should make her so proud of how far she has come. How strong she has been even when she felt she wasn't. I like so many others was enraged at the DPP for not charging. Nikita stood for herself and so many other victims and gave them a voice. The book can be graphic in parts so be warned you may have to listen to bits at a time like me. But a must read or listen. I wish Nikita and Gary nothing but the best. She is an absolute hero. and well done to Lauren Larkin for bringing this book to life. Emotion where there needs to be.. and the pure ridiculous voice and accent of the perp.

Powerful and moving.

After the years of abuse Nikita has suffered on social media and in the press I'm delighted that she finally has the opportunity to tell her story. The narration by Lauren Larkin is outstanding and the book is incredibly well written.
The courage and bravery it took for her to see justice served and reclaim her life is inspirational!
