No Obvious Cause is the second book in the Dublin Murder mystery series and will appeal to fans of authors such as Peter James, LJ Ross and Ruth Rendall.

A murder followed by a series of random, motiveless crimes leave Detective Garda Sergeant Mike West and his team puzzled. When Edel Johnson arrives at the scene of a crime Mike is taken aback, more so when he discovers she is now working with a victim support group. Love this series and the narration is perfect too. I was gripped by the first book, the second has carried the story on between the main characters beautifully.

My new favourite series!

Both this book and the previous one which was the first in the series gave much more than what is expected. I rate the Author very highly and she is up there with the best!

It isn’t a run of the mill police procedural.

It’s odd to describe a cop series as warm, almost cosy. But this is. The series could possibly have ended with book 2, so I’m curious to know where it’ll go now. This was the third Valerie Keogh book I’ve listened to. I started with The Nurse, which was, to my mind, quite unique and special. I don’t usually read series, so am not sure whether book 3 in this will keep me going, but I’m still keen to read all Keogh’s other books. If you haven’t read any of Keogh’s yet, I highly recommend The Nurse; if you like murder mysteries, you might find these … not too complicated, but delightful. The series may not have got me so excited by Keogh’s books, but I’m enjoying it and recommend that, although this book could stand alone, you’d weaken it by not starting at the beginning of the series.
One star removed from the narration because, for much of the book, there are very frequent over-long pauses that I found irritating, but either I got used to them, or they disappeared at some point. On the whole, he’s a good narrator.
After this somewhat picky review, I still give the book 5*. Now, on to book 3 :-)

Loving this series
