After years of seeing her sisters suffer at the hands of an abusive prince, Marra - the shy, convent-raised, third-born daughter - has finally realized that no one is coming to their rescue. No one, except for Marra herself.
Seeking help from a powerful gravewitch, Marra is offered the tools to kill a prince - if she can complete three impossible tasks. But, as is the way in tales of princes, witches, and daughters, the impossible is only the beginning.
On her quest, Marra is joined by the gravewitch, a reluctant fairy godmother, a strapping former knight, and a chicken possessed by a demon. Together, the five of them intend to be the hand that closes around the throat of the prince and frees Marra's family and their kingdom from its tyrannous ruler at last.©2021 T Kingfisher (P)2021 Macmillan Audio Action & Adventure Dark Fantasy Fantastik Kurgu Kraliyet Korkutucu İyi Hissettiren

Brilliant. The 2023 Hugo Award for best novel is thoroughly deserved. A clever and original story. Marvellous characters. Excellent narration. All in all a superb audiobook. (Michael).

This was very entertaining. Great characters and I loved the humor. A bit slow in the beginning, but it got better as the story progressed.
The narrator did a wonderful job.

Bad dead! No treat!

As others have mentioned, the story is quite slow at the beginning, but once it got going, I found myself chuckling frequently and enjoying it. I liked the ragtag crew and related to Marra's socially awkward nature.

And although I understand that the narrator's job is to distinguish the characters through their tone and accents, I found the poor imitation of Irish, English and Scottish accents hard to listen to and this distracted me throughout the story.

If you, like me, are familiar with the above accents, I would recommend reading this story rather than listening to it.

Quirky and Enjoyable

I couldn't stop listening to it. Ever so well written it is compelling. One might think that they are familiar with the structure of the story but it is full of wonderful twists and turns. It sucks you in. I only wish that the make character was given a more mature voice. He sounded like a lad in puberty not a warrior of 40 years. overall I loved it.

the ultimate adventure
