Fred Virski
"My Life in the Red Army" by Fred Virski offers a rare, firsthand account of a soldier's experiences within the Soviet military machine during a critical period of the 20th century. Through the lens of Virski's personal journey, the book sheds light on the inner workings, struggles, and day-to-day life of the Red Army from the perspective of an ordinary soldier.
Virski recounts with vivid detail the realities of military service in the Soviet Union, including the discipline, the camaraderie, the hardships, and the ideological indoctrination that were part and parcel of life in the Red Army. His narrative provides a valuable historical document that not only chronicles his own life but also offers insights into the broader socio-political context of the time, making it an important listen for those interested in military history, Soviet history, or personal memoirs of the 20th century.
would give it a 5 all around if it weren't for the audio errors, minor issues here and there of snippets of audio missing, also part 2 chapter 7 is a duplicate of a previous chapter, I thought at first the player somehow jumped back but no.
nevertheless I'm grateful for hearing this awesome story, wish it had continued further, but a good ending anyway.
