February 1913. Lady Hardcastle and her diminutive but brave lady’s maid, Flo, have been invited by their friend JB McIntyre to spend the weekend at his recently renovated Tudor fort on a remote island off the Devonshire coast. But the holiday quickly turns sinister when first a number of valuable jewels go missing—and then a fellow guest is murdered with a most unusual weapon.

Asked by JB to investigate, the stakes are raised for the sleuthing duo when a violent storm traps the group on the island and cuts them off from help. Is the murderer in their midst? With everyone claiming to have an alibi—but each also having a skeleton in their closet—can Lady Hardcastle and Flo unravel this complex web of secrets and deception before the killer strikes again?

Not as meaty and rich as the others. I also found myself missing Edna and Daisy. I didn’t feel like it show cased Flo’s and Emily’s skills enough. But l also loved to hear Flo enjoying her holiday and not being a Lady’s maid. As usual narrator was superb and she delivered.

Always good to hear from Flo and Emily

As usual, Kinsey never disappoints with yet another magnificent Lady H’s story. It’s witty and engaging, keeping me guessing practically until the end. The level of details as well as the educational elements are always to be praised. Elizabeth N narrates is superbly, and never ceases to amaze me at how brilliant her different accents are. Thanks!

Another fabulous gem!

Whilst this was enjoyable, it was all a little.... well silly. Flo making silly mistakes or at least not being as subtle as she should be. And both Lady H and Flo taking things at face value and believing what they are told. And the plot was in the vein of Agatha Christie's "And then there were none", So it was entertaining but not as good as previous books.

Not as good

Absolutely Brilliant as always!! I always look forward to each and every one and I am never disappointed! Elizabeth Knoweldon is hands down the best narrator and I love her interpretation of all the characters!! She just smashes it every time!!! Back to waiting for the next……. 😁
