Hillary will retire in a few weeks. But can her boss get Hillary to change her mind by putting her on a murder investigation?

The victim is found dead with his head bashed in with a piece of wood. Michael Ivers was a gambler and a notorious womaniser. He had few friends and there is a long list of people who might have wanted him dead.

Hillary wants to solve her final case as a police officer and she has just days left to find out who killed him. To add to her problems, her old enemy, ex-Sergeant Frank Ross is back on the scene and is a prime suspect.

This is a crime mystery full of well-observed characters, which will have you gripped from start to the absolutely thrilling conclusion.©2018 Faith Martin (P)2023 W.F.Howes Ltd Crime Fiction Dedektif Gizem Kadın Kurgu Police Procedurals Private Investigators Women Sleuths Kurgu Suç Heyecan verici Cinayet

Thank goodness. At last a narrator who doesn’t make dozens of mistakes mispronouncing elementary words. It spoiled the first 10 books. If they hadn’t been such good stories I would have given up. It’s been a pleasure listening and simply enjoying this book without having to shout at the narrator!

A good audio series rescued

I have enjoyed this series very much and I am sorry that it has come to an end.

I can only hope that the further books eventually get put on the site

Why can't this reader take advice about pronunciation of place names? Bicester is not Buycester, but Biss cester,

Good twist, shame about the reader

The story is the usual Faith Martin style, with and intrigue but it has been ruined by the change of narrator away from Gemma Dawson. I feel like I am being told a bedtime story when I was a five year old. Bring back Gemma and her quaint mispronunciations!!

Awful change of narrator

…but not very memorable. Characters are mostly fully formed over previous in series. Recommended for light predictable listening.

Good solid crime novel…
