Henry McAllan works hard to provide for his family, while his city-bred wife, Laura, feels lost and abandoned in her new farm home. A glimmer of hope enters their lives with the return of Henry’s brother Jamie from WWII. And when Ronsel
Jackson, the son of black sharecroppers working on the McAllan farm, also returns, he strikes up an easy friendship with Jamie. But their camaraderie is not appreciated in a town with deep-seated racial tensions, and tragedy lurks just over the horizon.
Told in alternating chapters by the McAllans and the Jacksons, Mudboundexplores prejudice in its myriad forms.©2008 Hilary Jordan (P)2008 Recorded Books
