When Sara and Jamie discovered the artifacts, they sensed the pull of a dim, distant place, a world of misty forests, ancient magics, mythical beings, ageless bards … and restless evil.

Now, with their friends and enemies alike—Blue, the biker; Keiran, the folk musician; the Inspector from the RCMP; and the mysterious Tom Hengyr—Sara and Jamie are drawn into this enchanted land through the portals of a sprawling downtown edifice that straddles two worlds.

From ancient Wales to the streets of present-day Ottawa, Moonheart entrances listeners with its tale of this world and the one at the very edge of sight. A tale of music, motorcycles, and fey folk beyond the shadows of the moon, Moonheart is pure magic.

Eleştirmen yorumları

“An ambitious hybrid…De Lint sustains his balance between ordinary reality and legend with skill.”

(Globe and Mail (Toronto))

“Charles de Lint has enjoyed a reputation as one of the world's leading fantasists, thanks largely to his enchanting 1984 novel Moonheart.”

(Star (Toronto))

“He shows that, far from being mere escapism, contemporary fantasy can be the deep mythic literature of our time.”

(Fantasy and Science Fiction)

“Moonheart…has elements of urban fantasy, strong underpinnings of Native American and Celtic mythology, and more than a hint of The X-Files-type government conspiracy…Paul Michael Garcia did a very nice job with the reading…his narration added an appropriate gravitas to the more mythopoeic elements of the story.”

I really liked how the story takes us into unpredictable situations with twists and turns of the storyline.

, with stories within the story, my interest was held throughout. my first book by Charles de Lint, certainly not my last.

This is the dullest book I’ve listened to for a long time, made more dull by the narrator who manages to flatten already pancake-like prose into thinnest leaf. It has a supreme virtue - it is wonderfully soporific. A great bedtime listen; no need for any other sleeping draught! One disadvantage is that I don’t really know what’s happening in the story - I gave up at chapter 4 - or was it 5? But I don’t think I’ll miss much. Night, night …

The breadth of Charles de Lint's imagination & quality of his prose has been a stand out for over 40 years.
Moonheart is the start of his Newford / Tamsin House work & showcases just now absorbing & breath-taking his works can be.
I've read this several times in print & wanted to see what the audio book was like. I was not disappointed, but it is harder to stop & reread something that really hits home.

de Lint's amazing work is spectacular!!

I remember reading de Lint way back when and eagerly awaiting his next offering. I was somewhat younger then and found the books both original and fascinating.
Older, wiser, more experienced and a little more cynical - how does it stack up? Well yes methinks it does. Not quite as riveting as 30 years ago but still a good listen. Certainly worth a try for anyone new to the works and I would be happy to revisit other offerings.
